When I'm done I'll think of ways to keep the render time down. ok - good aproach. just one suggestion: render in frames. if your computer crashes at frame 999 of 1000 and you rendered into avi - you gotta redo all. if you rendered in images, you only have to redo frame 999 and 1000. the avi file would need re-encoding after rendering anyway as it is not compressed at all.
