Hi Eagleking,

acctually it isn't SARS that is funny but the picture... and it is not the people who has suffered or died from it...

I don't know if it is called dark ironic humor... yes the background for it is very serious and not funny at all...

but take the picture away from that... (just like it somehow not is connected to it... even it is it... sorry don't know how to explain it properly)... then the picture itself is quite funny...

just like when there was a lot of talk about AIDS there was also a lot of jokes about that...

e.g. a man comes to the Doctor and says...
- "I would like to have some condoms with holes in them"...
the Doctor looks at him and ask why he wants that...
and then the man answers...
- "I would like to have children but not AIDS"...

in this case AIDS isn't funny... but the situation is kind of fun...

I might get in trouble for this... but why did John Denver crash?
- he was singing... "I'm leaving on a Jetplane"...

in this case it isn't funny that John Denver died in a plane crash... but that he had made a song "I'm leaving on a Jetplane" (or something like that)... in this case it is the ironic thing in the situation that it is funny...

so it is kind of the situatations taken away from the serious part... I don't think many people acctually finds the serious part behind the jokes funny... hope this make some sense... user added image
