It should be noted that virtually all the movie ticket money goes to the studios... the theatre itself makes its money off the concession, hence the awful prices. So I don't think the supply and demand issue would work particularly well; in fact I think it's cause the studios are hurting more that the prices are going up.
Thats pretty much spot on. The theatre's dont really make any money off the ticket price, its the popcorn, drinks etc tha tthey get there cash from with the huge mark ups.
