It didn't quite turn out how I wanted it too as my PC was too slow to animate it properly (took about 3-4 seconds to play a frame from within Maya). So the rolling of the car is a bit dodgey. I animated the rolling of the car using keyframes and the damage was using softbodies interacting with the floor (which ended up being a headache) The windows looking shattered was an image mapped to the incandesance node of the material and then keyframed so it appeard on impact.
