I can still open this on my older computer... Its a Sony Vaio Pentium 3, 1.2 Ghz with 512 mb of ram and a Gforce 3 TI500 video card. Ok its not that old, but its still chugs a bit on a GF3. If you have less of a machine, layers make all the difference, only have on what you need to, that way its still easy to rotate and stuff. I now have about 16 layers just for this truck. For the stuff I do for work, get this... I have over 300 (if not more) Maya Layers per scene , so that I can still work in a scene that has some where around 2 million Faces.
