As you wouldn't like some bad explanation on some particular point, here's my visual feeling. Pink is your edge. I would lower it, coplanar with hand's palm I mean.

I should have even set the soft curved edge as you almost did initialy, along the finger (index in english too ?), but more down than up.

Apart from that, and after staring at this amazing piece, i'll go and see my real one now
