yes you can do this. It will involve a little scripting though.

There are pre and post render commands that can run arbitrary scripts. Look in your render globals and under render options you have 3 boxes.

In post render MEL you can put:

sound -offset 1 -file "path_to_your_file"

It has to be a wav or similar it wont do mp3s.

That should do it
