I have the Radeon 9800 and have a crap load of issues while in Maya. Than my other desktop has Quadro FX 2000 and works perfectly in Maya. Your right it is very frustrating when you dont see your stuff properly in the viewport or get mouse trails everywhere. totally sucks. My recommendation find a older drv that works and stick with it!
