Ive looked for but cant find the answer to this hopefully simple question..... who knows maybe I saw the answer but didnt recognize it... I woke at 4:30am and have been playing with Maya and my Fundamentals book ever since

but... with noobs...... you can hit 1 2 or 3 for level of detail I see...... my question is...... is this level of detail for only visual aid or if for example you leave the detail level at 1 will it render this rough? I mean will the nurb sphere (for example) render completely smooth (like level 3) even if you leave it at level 1 while rendering?
