I had a quick look at strider when I was choosing.
The last strider game had characters in 2D but the background was 3D. They classed it as 2.5D because they didnt know exactly where to put it.

Personally I'd say that its ok to do strider as the characters themselves were only 2D.

Better wait for a mod response.
