Yeah exactly... Like wax/plastic. Im not sure what I can do to change it. I guess play with the shader settings is the first option. Thats kind of what I had in mind for the eye, nothing major, just something to break it up a bit. And yes, lighting his chest is an improvement I plan to make. But I should work more on that area in z before I do. Perhaps a colour map may go some way to adding some subtleties to his skin.
