hey guys (aka mat)

im trying to style my fur but when i render it doesnt look how it looks in the display window, also i've tried styling using hair curves but they don't seem to influence the fur anywhere near enough wen i add bends to the hair or anything

how i kinda want it to look at the top of the head


but when i render it looks like this


any help with styling maya fur appreciated! thanks!
