Okay, just to make sure:

1.Anyone who models any object or component, should assign it a unique shader.
For eg. If one models a bed, it has two components:
a.wood bed
b.mattress

The modeler, will assign a shader called say wood (no bitmaps necessary, just blinn gray is fine ) to the wooden frame.
He will asign a shader called say mattress (just a blinn gray again is fine) to the mattress.

2. The texturer/shader will modify those shaders as per his needs.

This will save time and make the flow streamlined.
