i do believe someone somewhere in this forum posted that photoshop does have an 'iff import' plug-in somewhere... if that's the case, you could create an action that saved a .iff file to a .tga file with whatever saving options you wanted, and then you could open all your .iff files in photoshop, use the action (just click the play button for each file... as long as you recorded a 'save as' and then a 'close' for the action it would bring you to the next file), and then you could open the .tga sequence in after effects...

i can't guarantee anything, but look into a .iff plugin for after effects as well. it might save you this step and allow you to import your .iff sequence with alphas *shrug*
