if you are new and want to learn the basics, you SHOULD (this is mandatory, you really have no better option) start with the tutorials that come with Maya in the help menu

in the time it takes to search the internet to find tutorials to learn the basics you would have already learnt how to navigate around the workspace, know you're way around it, and learnt how to make a temple from polygons




that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"
