Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

realistic indoor scene

i want to illuminate an indoor scene.
it too dark. what are my defaults lighting up the scene in maya with mentalray?

how would you illuminate the room to get an realistic scene?

is there a possibility to raise up the value of finalgather?

thanks for giving good advices.

You need to have the lights emit protons if not already emitting and mess around with the emergy and exponent settings.

hi myk,
in the scene there one great sky-sphere with an incandescence colour in blue and one spotlight.
the problem is the darkness of the skylight-sphere. the illumination comes finalgathering. as i see there is no possibility to raise the brightness of this sphere.
i don´t know how going further.

go to pick the color of your sky-sphere, while you have the color picker open.. ENTER in a higher value than 1 in the value atribute of it. The slider only gose up to 1 but it will go higher if you want. And it will definly make it much brighter. I don't know that it will have full afect inside your geo though.
Also on your geo room there. Tern up the difues higher than you have it.. if you haven't thought to do this already. That will let more light bounce around in there.

Have you turned on final gather yet?

And don't forget to use another background color too, even though the room doesn't really get more light, for your feeling it does.

Here's a mental ray experiment of mine.
