Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

How do I convert subdiv proxy to regular subdiv?

I converted a model to a subdiv proxy, but then I deleted the proxy part which left just the polygon mesh. How can I convert this polygon mesh to a subdiv (not proxy)?

Thanks!

Hi,

the purpose of a subdivision proxy is to let you preview a high res version of your mesh as you modify it. If you want to convert it, then you need to go to: Edit > Convert > Polygons to Subdivisions, with your mesh selected.

If it doesn't work, the look into the settings of the conversion, and also try and clean up your mesh (option under either mesh or edit mesh).

Hope that helps,

gubar
