Default Unable to write into memory!!!help!!!!

hi everybody....,

i am newbie to this group...i am very much intersted in 3d modelling especially in Maya. i'v got Maya 4.5 and installed it...

the problem is when rendering a model..there comes an error "unable to write into sysytem memory location.."and shows a memory address.....also i cant open Paint Effects... shows dumping to physical memory screen and then reboots the system

i had a graphcs adapter GeForce2 400MX.. maya was showing some error "Can't create surface, Out of video memory" to know tht Alias Wavefront is not supporting this adapter and changed the graphics driver settings to onboard VGA...

what may be the problem.......? if it can be solved by retaining my GeForce2 card...?

i dont know wht to do..if anyone can help me it wud be a great blessing for me..i need Maya badly...please tell a remedy for this...

my system configuration is as given below...

AMD Athlon 2400XP
Gigabyte k7 Triton series Mother Board..
512 MB DDR Ram..
onboard S3Graphics ProSavage DDR......
