Low Poly Me

I've been working on a low poly version of me. Basiccly I got some references of a muscular body and then, once I reach the head, will use pics of me to model it. Im running into a bit of trouble of how to attach the arm into the shoulder. I know of the whole merge vertices deal, but I want it to 'flow' into the body and make it idieal for animation. Here are some shots...any tips on how to attach the two?...sorry for the number of images user added image

PS Im shooting for around 5000 polys for the whole thing, with alot in the face for facial animation, while the body will be relativly low in poly count

Sorry, can't see the pics.

One thing to keep in mind, especially if going for games, is unless the character's shirt is off, you do not necessarily have to attach the arms to the body. user added image
