Default normal mapping

i wonder if maya can do normal mapping?
it is done in games (halo, max payne, doom... i think)
as i saw it done in LW in the LW forums video are, i wonder if maya has that ability.

It can in Maya 6! That's one of the primary reasons I'm looking forward it.

Hmmm.. Its talking about plugins... Is this for a previous version of Maya ?
