May - Noob - tdan

I first opened Maya five weeks ago and have been spending my evenings playing around (my day job is software development). After consuming several books (plus 28 points worth of video here user added image ), I am taking my first shot at a model in this challenge.

My basic concept is a traditional pirate, but instead of a hook and a peg leg, he is more of a cyborg with a robot arm and leg. His eye patch is going to be like the eyepiece of a wearable computer.

Here is my first roughed out coat, pants and boot. I decided to do it all in polygons so that I can get some good depth with all those tools first.

It looks way better after a smooth, but I don't want to make that permanent until near the very end.
