Question machine spec

hiya, could anyone help pls regarding setting up a new 3d machine.

currently i am trying to introduce to my company the world of 3d, and need to spec a machine from scratch(i currently use my machine which is pretty much state of the art for web stuff but sadly slow as hell when i do anything adventurous with maya)

could anyone suggest which cards or anything else that id need to set up something up to £1500(thats all they r giving me) i think the term is 'workstation...?'

any advice would b great!!

cheers, col

hi....Im also looking for a new station and came to the conclusion....

one the cards that are highly recommended for 3d proggs is the Quadro series of Nvidia... I was thinking of a Quadro fx 500 but If you could spent more you should get a higher card in that same serie...

I going for a 1,5 Gb RAM.... you could go for much less but I run alot at the same time so I need a higher RAM as ussual...

HD should see what kinda HardDisk you should take but make sure it's at least 7200rpm fast... ..could come in handy if you would copy alot and render time will reduce too....

I will take a P4 HT but I don't know if AMD or Mac orso would be better...

don't know if other things would need to consider for a good and stable 3dmachine...would like to hear it tho...

What I also would like to here from some others what they would buy...didn't bought anything yet so I can change dission cause Im still searching for what would be best for MAYA...
