This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Maya on laptops

Hi all,

I am currently travelling a lot with work and was thinking about buying a laptop to use maya while travelling - the one I am looking at has an ATI 9600 mobility graphics card (128 mb video memory) - does anybody have any experience of this card in a laptop with maya - any problems etc.

thanks a lot for any answers

cheers

I ran Maya a few times with the Radeon Mobility. Worked fine but menus and icons vanished once in awhile. In general it still worked.

Hey, I have the Toshiba p10-ee1 with the 9700 and maya works very well. It's actually a tiny bit faster than the desktop version of nvidia fx 5600 in maya.

I did notice some lighting differences (ugly darkening when using bevel) compared to the 5600.

I would have loved it if this laptop came with fx 5700 since it's better for opengl...but I'm happy.
