Default Can't get view part menu, please help

I am currently working on the animated dog tutorial and I am to a section where I am supposed to go to a "View part menu" that I do not have on my maya screen. I have Maya 5.0 and looked everywhere. The purpose of going to this menue is to click "shading" to make everything transparent. Please, any assistance would be greatly appreceated.

if u cannot see the view menu in the view panels, go to : windows>preference>interface and check on "show menu bar" check boxes
the menu should then appear in the view ports. then u can go to shading >shade options> xray shading to make things transparent.
