Default A|W's Long Hair Tutorial

There is an interesting tutorial over here:
http://www.aliaswavefront.com/en/Tmp..._fx_fur_m.html

But I can't understand this:
Part 3, Step 2: "Connect each control curve to each PFX stroke..."

How? Parenting? Grouping? Any ideas?

I think I got it. Paint Effects -> Curve Utilities -> Set Stroke Control Curves.
