Default How to render?

Hi

I'm a real newbie in rendering in Maya. I can render some models but i don't have any light and shadow.

I just want to know how put shadow and light in my render, so if you know good tutorial or just post a reply with instruction that will be great

It may be old and in the archive but it still teaches you the basics of lighting.
