Default Wrap Deformers

Hello, I've been building a lowrez poly wrap deformer for my highrez SubD. I have devided the body into 6 sections(left and right : hands, feet, torsos.) then the head which is 2 seperate objects a head and a jaw.

So the wrap deformers for all the body parts worked great, however when I try to do the jaw it will make 302 wrap deformers and gets REALLY slow, trying to do the head will cause maya to freeze up. I tried deviding the jaw into 2 halves like the torso, but it still creates over a hundred wrap deformers. Why would it do this? I just want one deformer on each part, but it's going wrap deformer crazy on me. I don't know why the body worked fine but the head and jaw won't. The only difference that I can think of between them is that the jaw and head are textured and the body has just a blin shader, but this shouldn't affect it because the guy in the tutorial video I have uses a textured Sub Division Char with roughly the same vertices as mine.

u should not divide your mesh up that way.

but u should also not endup with more wrap nodes than the amount of wrap objects you have.

you have over 100!!! that is way too much for a basic humanoid character i assume.

each wrap akes time to calculate, and each subD deformation takes even longer.

if your mesh is not exceeding the verts limits of maya [which i highly doubt] then use a single mesh as the wrap object.

although, using multiple has "some advantages" over the control of deformation, but rigging it is actually much harder. more often a single mesh is just as good.

I just did what was recommended on the DVD, they said it allowed better localized performance. Anyways, because the character is made of 3 pieces he'd need at least 3 right?
I'm not really worried if it's harder, because I have more DVDs explaining how to do it. I just don't know why it's creating so many extra wraps...

Ok I realized that all my character's teeth were being included and somehow causing that problem because they were child nodes under the head and jaw respectively. I don't know why it made that many wraps as he doesn't have that many teeth. But oh well it works now.

Note, when making wrap deformers, watch out for having child nodes under your object you want to deform.
