2 texture glitches

there are two common probs ive been getting with applying textures:
one is when i apply a texture to a block, and then bevel the edges causes the texture to go funky at the edges.
and for the second problem, is there a way to apply a texture and make it react for the whole object rather than the faces individually?

heres the link:

tks, and sorry for asking a lot of questions.:-)

You'd need to UV map your geometry.
