Default how to close an area of vertex

am following the maya hammer tutorial could anyone tell me how to close the open area (or create a closing face based on vertex), assume we already have fence around? (like attached picture)



thank you in advance.
ps: more people in this forum, guess this might be the most outstanding + helpful maya forum...

have a look at edit polygons -> fill hole

Ben Clark in alias community help me with the following tips.
Polygons > Append to poly tool.
You will get an arrow head pointer and you just have to click on two opposite sides of the hole and press enter
