Half Textured?

Hi, i created a model of a rabbit for a school project. When i go to texture it however, only have the model is textured. Its like its being treated as several different objects, even though it is all 1 single mesh with no outstanding vertices. Here is a screen shot of what it looks like when i try texture it with a checker pattern.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If this is in the wrong forum please let me know and i will move it.

Thank you

well in a nutshell ::

select the model and make sure you have done a polygons>>combine on it. Then make sure you have merged the verts on it to make sure it's one mesh.

Then do automatic mapping on it and then tweak your uvs and see if that helps.

if not post your model and I'll take a look
