Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

reducing model poly count

Is there any way to go back on a model you've already created? I have these pillars and I have to reduce the sides from 12 to 8 sides, is there anyway to do that after I have created the pillar, and deleted the history? Probably not but it could save alot of time if there is.

Maya has a Polygons reduce tool, but it doesnt realy do that good of a job.. Geometry gets kinda messed up...
and normally doesnt come out very clean, atleast with my expirence..

Probably best to just remodel what you have..

You could, Just start deleating edges, and left over Verts..but, it'd most likely be quicker to just click the cylinder button and change it to 8 in the imputs..lol

I think if you still have it open you can undo the delete history, but not too sure though
