Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

my first work in maya

hey this is my first work of texturing in maya. I was going on playing in photoshop with filters until i arrived at this texture.
Actually it looks like a blue golf ball, but as i thought it is a planet where there is only water.......water planet.

Please give me ur suggestions

if that's a water-only planet, they must be in the middle of tsunami season or something....

Looks ok, To me it looks a bit like a procedural texture.

Try and make the texture into a "proper" planet, with clouds etc on a layered shader with spec, transparancy, colour maps, it will teach you more about texturing and how the nodes link together forming the overall texture.

yeah u r right. actually i wanted to keep the clouds but i could not the actual placement of them . they should be kept on the water by the layered shader . at present i am working on it.

my second work will be finished by some days may be that covers the entire techniques
