uv maps

Hi, can anyone confirm something for me. ive modeled a star destroyer from revenge of the sith and id like to get close up shots of it. instead of one big uv map with a resolution the size of a small country, is it better to create new uv sets for different parts with smaller resolutions??

it´s not just better, it is neccessary. I guess the destroyer is modeled in lots of parts. if it is one piece you might also split it up.

everything starts and ends in the right place at the right time.
