Question uv maps

Hi, can anyone confirm something for me. ive modeled a star destroyer from revenge of the sith and id like to get close up shots of it. instead of one big uv map with a resolution the size of a small country, is it better to create new uv sets for different parts with smaller resolutions??

itīs not just better, it is neccessary. I guess the destroyer is modeled in lots of parts. if it is one piece you might also split it up.
