Default Skin tear and rigging

Hi Guys,

Im new to Maya and have been teaching myself for the past 2 months or so. Im up to the Rigging process (which im finding extremely difficult due to the fact there isnt much tutorials for dinos )

Anywho as you can see in the attached pics these are my problems. When i move the leg i get skin tear on the body and when i go to open the mouth it warps and does not open as planned.

Any ideas?

This is completely normal, as the joints don't know what to deform. You need to paint the weights. Look up Painting skin weights in the documentation.
Imagination is more important than knowledge.
