Renderman Glow effects questions

Can anyone tell me explicitly how to create a mystical glow effect from an object inside Renderman for Maya? say a cool looking glowing mushroom or fairy. I am pondering the theory that maybe it is done with particle effects for mist around the object to which a color or glow is applied below a sphere light, but I have not got that far yet to trying. Everything else I have tried has failed and have to move on but will try it later on, obviously I have to that is why I am on here asking. I would really appreciate the advice.

I found that the answer is in compositing software like Nuke or Fusion and I guess Nuke no longer supports RenderMan through RenderMan's newest version. So switching to Arnold for scenes that require compositing or use Fusion if they still support RenderMan.
