Maya Saving Issue

Every time i try and save a maya scene, it resets to a new scene and i lose my work.
what is this? any fixes? tried repairing and re installing...didnt work

When you say reset your scene say you save your file as "cup" when you reopen it is it a scene with nothing in it..............dave

Put it another way how do you open your saved file, do you open maya then go to open file and find where your file is and open.................dave

well the moment i save it, it doesnt even create the file, it creates a blank 10kb file that its not even maya related

When you save, do you have the file type set to Maya Ascii or Maya Binary?
