This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Character with facial animation problems

Here's the little one (click the image)
user added image
user added image I'm using Maya OSX and experiencing problems using clusters for deformation of the head. All works fine untill I parent (or skin) the head to the skeleton. I'm now forced to use blendshapes for the face animation and bones for the eyelids user added image . Any suggestions?

re character problems wtih clusters and skinning....

Hi there,

Would you mind expanding on 'problems' as I'm not sure what you mean by this?

also there is a check box in the cluster node called 'relative'. try checking this and parenting the cluster (maybe even grouping it first to itself) to the head bone. Then skin and see what happens.

Thanks for help. I'm now pretty sure the cluster problem is a bug in Maya OSX. I ended up using blendshapes and bones.
