This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Good Computer

Hey guys, I'm currently trying to figure out if I should upgrade my current computer or buy workstation

This is my current setup

Dell 8200
2 GHZ pentium 4
80GB Harddrive
256MB Ram(Can go up to 2GB)
DVD Rom
CD Burner
64M NVidia Graphics card
Sound Blaster Sound Card

The only thing you really need is more RAM. I would go for a minimum of 512 MB RAM (more is always better). You can upgrade your video card if you want, but that depends on what you currently have.

Like danny said, Ram is one of the most curicial things right now for you to upgrade.... I had 512 on my old PC and I found myself running out of it a lot of times... now with a Gig it's a lot better!

I concur. Aside from Ram, perhaps a 128 bit video card, but not necessarily required... pretty much the best computer you can afford is the oneyou should get.

just wandering what is the speed of the ram you have. and also your front side bus on the motherboard if you know ??

I was looking at getting 2G of ram, and a really nice graphics card, something like wildcat from Nvidia or a High End ATI Professional Graphics card

i got 256 of RAMBUS 800Mghz memory... and the price is killing me,.. can't come up with the money to upgrade... user added image (my board does not support any other ram... user added image )

yea my ram is raping me too, I have Rambus to, expensive man, for 1Gig it's $1000 Canadian
