Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Baby reworked

Hi Everyone, I am redoing an old model I had done a while ago. Im going to apply some of the texturing techniques that I've learnt recently. Anyways, I tweaked the models quite significantly and I am now ready to do the texturing.

Not exactly sure why, but to me the model looks more like a young boy than a baby.

Edit: or young girl.

good luck with applying the new techniques minstrel user added image

I think the eyes look a little high and the area around it looks puffy, like there needs to be more detail such as around the eyelids etc.

i think the outer corner of the eyes looks too high and needs to come down.

This is what i have so far...this is just the front color texture map. No SSS in here yet or any other maps...need to finish the sides, back, top, and under chin areas of the color map. I did tweak the model some more, especiall around the eyes as you suggeted Arran.

looking good.

I've only got 1 crit the outer corner of the eyes need to be pushed back to the back alittle more... it looks a little flat, however it could just be the angles.

Looks good

But it looks like he has lipstick on... and the nose is a bit wide.
The model is very nice though.

Hi All, the colors you see in here will be toned down significantly once the SSS is in place. Also, the model (my daughter) is half asian so that may explain some of the shapes around the eyes.

Gster you are absolutely correct...

when my wife saw some of the things I did lately she started nagging me to redo that model.

This close up is alot closer than my previous model, so I can't really hide mistakes.

Here is some progress on the color map. I threw the color map on an SSS shader, tweaked it a bit and here is what i got so far.
