Create Plane autosized to image dimensions?

Is there a way to make a poly (or nurbs) plane so that its dimensions are autosized to an images dimensions that you want to project onto it? In some other 3d apps you simply pick the image that you want to map onto a card, and the poly plane is generated that matches the dimensions of that image so it fits perfectly...Just wondering if there was a way to automate that...

you can make a mel script that reads the info from the image, then generates the plane, and adds the image.

Can be done, dunno if somebody has written it, might be good to check highend3d
