Questions about rigging an arm..

I've been trying to rig my characters arm for over a month and the results have been awful.

When I rotate the elbow inward I get a lot of bending. Do I have to use deformers when rigging the arm?

And can someone here explain how they rig the arm. All I know how to do is lay the joints. user added image

Thanks for any help!

ok, so you've laid the joints out (make sure the elbow is slightly bent) use an IK (RP) solver from the shoulder to the wrist and attach a locator to the end effector

what exactly are you having trouble with?

My problem is when I I rotate the elbow it deforms. The mesh pinches and bends when ever I rotate the rist or elbow. Over the past month I've been trying to find a way to prevent it, but nothing I do works.

you may need to adjust the weights.

Skin > Edit Smooth Skin > Paint Skin Weights Tool > options
