another update.

roughed out the tread, cog placement and wheels.

This is more of a game design tread where you can use animated textures to give the illusion of animated treads. Just learning how to write expressions for that is... fun yet hard to figure out how.

next on

the Turret.

thanks! yeah i have tons of references pics i've been collecting for a few weeks.

And while then been studying the rough shape of the tank. Most difficult thing so

far has been the angles on the pivoting turret. But booleans made it easier.

all together.

Next working on smaller details, like railings and other things that go on the turret.

also need to continue working on the smaller details on the hull. In the mean time, I am going

to experiment with the tank tread. As for texturing it.. I might.. don't know about spending the time to

UV Map until after I am done with it working how I want.

hey Bullet!!

I like tanks but my main goal of this project is to learn how to set up the treads. then figure out expressions to animate the treads. user added image

Nah this isn't for a low poly game job because the tracks are going to be more realistic (hopefully) the ones now are just a place holder since I am looking to make actual treads move instead of setting it up for texture animation.

CGWolf- thankya sir!

will have an update soon.

The easyest way to model the track is use the animated snapshot, find out how meny treads the real tank has then use that as the number as your end time...........dave
