Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Here is the crappy beginnings of the head: top is a smooth proxy and the bottom image is the low poly model. It really needs a lot of work, I know.

It's a wip, but it already has a lot of character. Big strong jaw, narrow brows. Keep it going.

yeah, you've got the basic fill in for a good head. I'm interested in seeing it develop through the smooth proxy method (having not tried it yet).
Keep it up user added image

Just check out the area from the nipple to under the armpit, there should be some definition on the pectoral muscle along the edge and it should crease inwards.
Also check the shoulders even though they will be covered. It looks like they go straight into the neck instead of having their own definition.

Looking good though and its starting to come together user added image

Thanks for the input.

I have a lot of work to do with the whole model and a lot of definition to add. Things will hopefully begin to look more realistic when I get time to work on it more.

Much need torso work. I added a bicep, and some more definition, with more yet to come.

I really haven't had time to work on this project as much as I had been. School work and trying to come up with a thesis project has been draining, but I end running cross country tomorrow, and flag football ends this weekend. So I cannot wait for the next competition to begin, I should be able to finish it.

I hope to at least enter something into the final entry thread, although it won't be what I had in mind. I have to try to submit something.:headbang:

Nice work everyone.user added image

I think all the work on the hand was too time consuming to get the model finished.

Are you going to get it finished for the challenge end???
