Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

The crease will go away (if you do it right) once your done modeling and put it together. Only thing I really see, is the nose. Its abit to.......long. Just my own opinion tho. Looks pretty good other than that. user added image One question....are you using NURBs/Polys/Sub-Ds?

Geez, I'm not sure what I'm using. I created a cube with a smooth mesh inside it, and now I'm just extruding and splitting faces as I go. Polys, I guess?

The trunk... yeah, it seems a bit long. But he's going to use it instead of hands, so I'll need him to be able to reach pretty far with it.... I can always shorten it, I guess.

Okay, I'm taking a break on the head for a while and working on the torso (haven't touched the arms or legs, which I'm thinking are too long).

I'm having trouble making him look really fat. I've found some reference photos online, but I'm still pretty lost on what exactly makes a person look HUGE.

Any ideas? Or other critiques?

Okay, here's a shot at bigger ears. What works better, the smaller or the bigger ones?

in the end make him pink and translucent, he reminds me of the dancing elephants from Dumbo :p

Also, I like the big ears better.

nice Job!
I would personally make his head bigger and rounder with shorter stubbier extremities (ie. ears, trunk, arms and legs) if you're going for a cartoony look. That could help in making him fat as well.

Working on arms and eye area. Not much, I guess, but this keeps me honest. user added image

Next up is finishing the arms and eyes, giving him finger and toenails, shrinking the hands, and putting some ridges on the trunk. Then merging the two halves and learning to texture.... user added image

the finger and toe nails look ok.. it all depends on what your going for... If I was to take a gess at it though it would be to flatten the ends of them.. and pull that back in to the flat of the foot or hand, that might give it that elaphant look. since there's look like stones that have bean pushed in the skin.
