Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Question about reinstalling Maya

First, before anybody starts to think otherwise, I have a LEGAL student license of Maya 5.0.1 that I purchased two years ago.

My question is this: I am seriously thinking about formatting my hard disk, and reinstalling Windows from the Recovery disk that came with my computer (I haven't formatted my HD is the three years I've had the computer), but before I do, I really want to know how much of a pain it is to reinstall Maya.

In order to cut down the hassle, should I back up the flexlm directory on my C drive. When reinstalling, is there an option to use a previously obtained license?.

Could somebody walk me through this step by step, as this is the only program I have that is tied to my machine. My other apps either use a dongle, or are licensed to me, not my hardware.

Cheers,
Malcolm

It's just that I have an old version that they probably don't support at all (Maya 5), and I assume that there will be various hoops to jump through since I don't have a support contract with them.
I recall reading on a forum somewhere that the person who made the post needed to fill out an online form to reactivate his copy of Maya.
