Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Cartoon dog tutorial question

Hi, I watched Kurt's cartoon dog tutorial.
But I can't understand why I need to change the model from nurves to polygon. Is it necessary..?
Thank you for everybody in this wonderful site.

Another question on this tutorial, since there's already a thread I won't bother starting a new one:
What tool is used to drag out the control vertices?

right click over your model with it selected and then hold it down select contorl vertix and then just use the move tool to dragit (press w if you cant find the icon) use e and r to rotate and scale because you can use those two as another way of manipulating your model.

Also doing this tutorial and heh don't want to start a thread too. If anyone can answer.

Somehow the neck cylinder that I create is connected to the background referrence of the dog. I have check everything but still it's attached to the background. So if I do R, T, or blank in the layers box, it acts as if it's the image plane. The outliner display it as a separate thing so I don't know what's wrong. Appreciate any help.

And you're sure you set the image to reference? Maybe you changed it by mistake?

it isnt a must to convert to polys some people do all there work in nurbs, but its much more difficult i know u think your model looks great in nurbs at the moment and by changing it it looks alot more awful but i would suggest to keep going as the tutorial is there to show all the work flows, most people go from nurbs to get the main shape ,then to polys to add more important detail and make sure everything is connected then finally to sub'd's for the fine tweaks. (no one said this would be easy) user added image
the guy stuck with the neck connected to the layer go to layer right click on it then Remove selected objects then just re connect just the reference pic.
