Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

working units feature or bug?

I keep setting my working units to inch because my brain does not work in centimeters. However, everytime I restart Maya the working units are set back to centimeters?

How do I make inches the default working unit?

I have set my grid up to 12 units, 1 unit per main grid (1 inch) and 4 subgrids (1/4 inch). This works well for me in most cases.

The grid setup is remembered as are all my other changes to the preferences. It is just settings that constantly gets changed back to centimeters.

Did you remember to click "Save" when changing the working units ? user added image

Strange that maya doesn't save unit preferences. You could go in and change it manually in the userPrefs.mel file. It's located in My Documents\maya\*.*\prefs\

Search for -sv "workingUnitLinear" and change to correct working units, which would be "in" in your case.

Don't know if that helps.
