VIP explosions test WIP...

This looks a LOT better animated, but then again, so do most explosionsuser added image
I'll be posting my movie of this in the next few days or so....

NOTES:
NO FLUIDS were used for this shot!
This is All Maya particles and shading, with the exception of:
1. The small piece of stock footage in the very center.
2. The main background plate.
3. The plane pieces and shrapnel are rigid-body geometry of courseuser added image

Each 720x486 D1 frame renders out at less than 1minute and 30 sec. (Fluids take at least 10 times longer roughly)

I have not YET added the MAIN particle explosion to the composite as it is all still renderinguser added image

By the way, in case anyone doesn't know, this explosion is DIRECTLY from my most recent VIP tutorial: Dynamic Explosions for VFX part 2!

Thanks for the great responses all!

Oh, and silviapalara, just check out my tutorial, and see how EASY it is!

It's really not that hard to do.

It just takes some time to decide how you want your final shot to look, that's the hard partuser added image

FINAL MOVIE....

I'm STILL not happy with it at all because I could have used MUCH better stock footage in the composite, but that crap is SO dam expensive.....

Anyhoo....

looking good so far.

maybe u can change the colors of your own explosion a little bit in the way the footage explosion looks like. and the explosion dust could be a little lighter.

but anyway good animation, the parts of the destroyed airplane looking good in the camera.

so long C.
