Saving from 2008 to 8.5

Hi,

I have been working on Maya at home using Maya 2008 and I need to take my work in to Univeristy. Only problem is they are working on Maya 8.5. Is there any way to save my work so that it can be opened by Maya 8.5?

Thanks

Pam

I think theres an option, in 2008 to do that but only with 8.5, its in the help files Ive never tried it so couldent vouch for its workings.

I use 2008 at home and 8.5 at university too.

I've found that the option to ignore version under the File > Open File option box works fine so long as you've not used any Maya 2008 specific functions.

Hope that helps,

Mat.

If that fails, open the files up in notepad, then on the top line there will be a couple of parts which say "2008". If you change these to "8.5", or which ever version you which to open them with, they will also open up fine.

That assumes you save as ASCII (ma)... unlike the default Binary (mb)

Unless something changed in 2008.

What is the difference between 8.5 and 2008 im assumeing 2008 is newer but i was under the impression that 8.5 was pretty new as well.
