Not sure about the classical guitar, midi sequencer analogy - it's all just tools and what you do with them - I don't see one being any better than the other.

hey there mate, one needs electricity and one you can sit under any tree and 'do your thing,' without third party assistance; anyway, I do agree they are both tools but being a backpacker (they didn't call them that when i started) from way back, I learnt the not reply on electricity; the third world has problems with it at times.

Having said that my 'lounge room' is over run with MIDI equipment and is no longer a lounge room but a studio so you see my friend I do agree with you, but then again I don't.., I do waffle on...........,

back to women and partners; at least they don't need electricity, but they do need a good..,

i REALLY want a girlfriend, lol

the wise begin with opposition and end up in harmony.
fools begin with enjoyment and up with sadness.

stick to Maya, there's a future there, especially at your age; the world is full of women, some of them are even geeks too, one will cross your path soon. Better to hang with Maya than hang on the street.

your hormones must be agony; you have my sympathies, i remember what it was like. It's an attitude, just be patient, (easier said than done.)

Dude, being a geek is cool. Now a nerd is another matter.

Geeks are clever in there specialist subject but don't feel like rubbing it in other peoples faces, but a nerd has that desire to boast that he has a faster CPU clock cycle than you or that his Level 8 Battle Hammer wielding Druid would own your Elf Ranger and other stuff like that.

Long live the geeks! user added image

nice thread,

interesting to see that many of you guys seem to like a "3d chick"
Im together with my girlfriend for almost seven years now. And we're both working in the same business. I can tell you it's not always easy. Often there is a lot of stupid competition between the two of us. I hope she doesn't read this but sometimes I wish she'd study business management or technical engeneering....
So probably look for someone who is not necessaryly interested in the same stuff than you guys are

'look for someone who is not necessarily interested in the same stuff '

yea, there's been a few interesting posts here. Yours is an interesting insight too. The search for the perfect partner; why can't we find one. 'Simply' because there's no perfect people. I saw an interesting show on TV last night about 3D porn (seemed all Japanese manga style and near photo realistic) and the possibilities of virtual sex (that's using mechanical genitals as you stare at each other on screen I suppose?? yea, can you believe it?) and the incredibly voyeuristic gaze at virtual woman who (?) you can engage with in a 'game.' You can pick the girl and make her do anything you want, this is a game by the way, like a flight simulator with a difference. (any virtual porn developers put your hands up)
So it is about the fantasy, and it is a fantasy to expect the perfect woman; brings to mind 'take a look at one self first when judging others.'
Anyway, the men in Japan (some) collect dolls. life like and capable. They buy clothes for them and do EVERYTHING. because the pressure and fear of approaching each other in Japan is incredible. My wife (Japanese in Japan, sick grandmother for those who haven't read all this thread) has told me about this but I never believed it was so..? BIG there?! The pressure there is incredible with a very high suicide rate, I think the largest in the world.
Another thing to consider id Shinto. The Japanese believe that a spirit resides in EVERYTHING which is another thing to consider when speaking of their approach to computers and technology. They believe a spirit resides in all things, even computers (they are people toouser added image ) which I think is a different approach to technology than the west which I think is some thing like this; competitive and never good enough or just competitive and never enough. Anyway it is not a big step when considering Shinto to understand why these men love their dolls. Which brings about questions of love but I won't go there.

Does this make sense?? What I wanted to print out is the FANTASY; and the world we create around us.., and with 3D apps we literally DO create a 'virtual' world in which WE can control in a 'real' world which we can not control.
We can not control another person and I think this is why there is so much good hearted banter on this thread about our partners (or our hopes for one). Mine is in Japan so I can fantasise how perfect she is (until she returns to run my life, or try).:rolleyes

Jesus man, that's deep. I know what you mean mean about the spirits thing. It's a really nice way to look at thing in my opinion.

Speaking of creating the perfect woman, I think Jay is one step ahead of you there, check out his WIP user added image

Man this is handsdown one freaky $#%$. The thought of banging electrical appliances sounds unsanitary. But then again......isn't it already unsanitary? Imagine playing with it and all of a sudden it comes to life(good or bad for some haha) or....you get stuck. Like you do with your zipper. lol
